In his second year at Repsol Honda, Joan Mir has a new teammate. Marc Márquez left, Luca Marini entered – coming from a Ducati from the VR46 Racing Team.
The Spaniard emphasized that there is an ally/rival binomial between teammates: ‘I will try to be ahead of him, with all the love in the world. Your teammate is your first rival, but on the other hand, they can also be your best ally. That’s what we have to look for: always trying to be ahead of your teammate makes the level of both riders rise and I think that’s what we’re going to do’.
In a press conference, Mir also spoke about Marini as a rider and what his new teammate can bring to Honda: ‘Luca is a great rider, he is a rider who has achieved very good results, he comes from the best bike of the moment. He comes with information, with a fresh perspective, I think this is fantastic for the team, and I believe we can make a good pair’.
