Miguel Oliveira arrived at a circuit where he has been very successful in the past. The Portuguese rider has stood out at the Montmeló circuit in recent years, with victories, podiums, and most recently with a fifth place last season riding for RNF Aprilia.
In statements to SportTV, Oliveira talked about his expectations for the weekend in Barcelona.
– It is a circuit where I adapt quite well, perhaps because it has very fluid trajectories, but the truth is that for some reason I have always been competitive here. The approach will be more or less the same, of course arriving at a circuit where we have been fast is always good, but we have our feet firmly on the ground and we will start “breaking stones” from the first practice session and understand the conditions and the bike well, that is our goal. The goal is to make it to Q2, so we hope to achieve that goal.
Asked about the future and Aleix Espargaró’s retirement at the end of the season, Miguel responded: ‘Regarding my future, I am quite calm, I know that Aprilia’s priority is to prioritize the riders they currently have. Yes, I have had conversations with other teams. I should not disclose anything, we have always done everything with transparency, demonstrating our willingness and seriousness towards Aprilia and Trackhouse. What I can say is that I am very calm about my future and I know my worth in the paddock.’
