Yamaha is working on its MotoGP bike to make it considerably more competitive next season. There will be many evolutions, but it won’t be a 180º change and continuous progress is expected – also taking advantage of concessions.
To the GPOne.com website, team manager Massimo Meregalli stated that the final version of the bike won’t be seen at the Sepang tests: ‘It is certain that, as we usually do, it won’t be a revolution. I already know that we won’t see the definitive M1 there, but I hope it will be more competitive‘.
Regarding the development of the YZR-M1 throughout 2023, the Italian explained: ‘The concessions will allow us to work on all aspects throughout the year. We will surely have an evolution of the aerodynamics and I hope the same for the engine. There will also be something new for the chassis‘.
In a year that aims for substantially better results, Yamaha keeps the 2021 champion Fabio Quartararo and has hired Álex Rins.
