In Portugal, in the spirit of celebration felt throughout Europe, Yamaha organized a very special anniversary and the 40 years of the Ténéré will be celebrated in various activities:

What better way to celebrate than by giving to those who need it most?
Continuing our brand partnership at the European level, Yamaha Motor Portugal is pleased to announce that it will donate, to the Riders for Health program in Gambia (https://www.yamaha-motor.eu/en/about-us/our-activities/yamaha-to-support-riders-for-health/), the value of the sale of a very special Ténéré 700 World Rally unit. The sale of this unit will take place in an online auction format (https://www.yamaha
motor.eu/pt/pt/experiences/2023-tenere-tour/auction-pol_tarres.html) between August 17 and September 25, 2023.
The Riders for Health program in Gambia (https://www.yamaha-motor.eu/pt/pt/about us/our-activities/yamaha-to-support-riders-for-health/), helps replace and maintain the fleet of Yamaha AG100 motorcycles. These motorcycles are used to distribute essential prevention items, such as mosquito nets for malaria prevention, as well as enabling the regular opening of vaccination clinics against various diseases.
As Riders for Health is the main partner of our Yamaha Ténéré World Raid team (https://www.yamaha-racing.com/tenere-world-raid/teams/), which helps raise awareness for this cause, it seemed appropriate that Yamaha Motor Portugal’s support for this project would also be related to the Yamaha Ténéré World Raid team.
Therefore, the Ténéré 700 World Rally unit that will be auctioned is an exclusive unit, full of accessories, with a replica decoration of the first competition unit used by rider Pol Tarrés. This unit will be signed and handed over in person by Pol Tarrés to the auction winner themselves during their presence in Portugal at the 2023 Lés-a-Lés Off Road event.
This very special unit features:
– a replica decoration of Pol Tarres’ competition motorcycle – a personalized signature from rider Pol Tarres – a lightweight Akrapovič exhaust silencer – a specific 2-piece rally type flat seat – two rubber side fairing protections – a high mudguard suitable for off-road use – a radiator protection – a black crankcase protection – a chain guide – a chain protection The starting bid for this unit will be the turnkey price of €16,167.34. The amount obtained from the auction of this unit (minus taxes and legalization expenses) will be donated by Yamaha Motor Portugal to the Riders for Health program in The Gambia in order to improve the program’s ability to reach more people in need with better quality. Commemorative exhibition of the 40 years of Ténéré
This exhibition presents a collection of historic production models of the Ténéré (1983-2010), as well as original Dakar classics, for enthusiasts to witness first-hand the evolution of this iconic adventure machine.
Over the past four decades, the Yamaha Ténéré has solidified its legacy as a symbol of adventure, exploration, and resilience. Whether conquering the toughest terrains of the Paris-Dakar Rally or inspiring riders pushing the limits of what is possible, the Ténéré has become a true legend in the world of motorcycling.
In the decades since Cyril Neveu achieved a historic double victory in the first and second editions of the Paris-Dakar Rally in 1979-80, with the XT500, the Yamaha team has achieved incredible feats in rallies. Ténéré icons like Jean-Claude Olivier, Serge Bacou, and “Mr. Dakar” Stéphane Peterhansel, whose record of six victories with Yamaha began in 1991 and has not been beaten to this day, have taken their machines through some of the world’s most demanding terrains. More recently, legendary adventurer and Yamaha ambassador Nick Sanders completed his latest round-the-world journey on his Ténéré 700, while factory riders Pol Tarrés and Alessandro Botturi continue to make history in rallies with the Ténéré 700 World Raid equipped with GYTR.

Being the nephew of Jordi Tarrés, seven-time World Trial Champion, it was no coincidence that this young man developed his passion for trial and later turned it into a passion for extreme enduro and recently also for adventure bikes.
Ambassador and acclaimed rider, Pol Tarres is known for taking his Yamaha Ténéré 700 to a world record of multiple skills and sporting feats.
O Pol Tarrés será o convidado especial da Yamaha Motor Portugal no evento Lés-a-Lés Off Road de 2023. Este evento de enorme sucesso em Portugal, com uma atmosfera vibrante e uma impressionante sensação de entusiasmo entre os participantes terá este ano a participação de Pol Tarrés. Temos a certeza de que serão muitos os apaixonados da comunidade da Ténéré e não só a querem rolar nas estradas de campo deste país ao lado deste famoso piloto.
Os participantes deste evento terão a oportunidade de conhecer o piloto, pedir-lhe um autografo, e ver como ele faz da Ténéré 700 um brinquedo nas suas mãos. O piloto da “Ténéré World Raid Team” Pol Tarrés irá estar presente no Lés-a-Lés Off Road nos dias 30/9, 01/10 e 02/10.
