Yamaha is slowly entering the electric mobility sector and recently completed the acquisition of Brose’s e-bike drive units business – forming the new company Yamaha Motor eBike Systems, established in Germany.

The deal is expected to be finalized by June, after which the new company will begin operations. In this way, the Iwata-based manufacturer aims to establish itself in the market and expand its portfolio to include electric bicycles.

With Brose’s eKit, the goal is to leverage development capabilities and also meet the demands of European customers.

The new Germany-based company will work in collaboration with Yamaha Motor Europe – focused on the ‘development, manufacture, and sale of drive units and components for e-bikes’.

The electric bicycle business is part of the Medium-Term Management Plan (2025–2027) announced last February, with the acquisition of Brose’s e-bike division being a key part of this strategy.
