Under the new concessions system in MotoGP, Monster Energy Yamaha will be entitled to six wildcards in the upcoming season. These are usually used to put the test rider on track in a competitive environment, helping with the development of the bike, but the Japanese manufacturer is unsure if they will take advantage of all six possible wildcards.
Director Lin Jarvis explained to the site SPEEDWEEK.com: ‘It doesn’t make sense if these wildcards are not part of our development program. But we will definitely do more than this year, because one wildcard is really not enough. I am convinced that we will do at least three, maybe more‘.
With Cal Crutchlow secured as the test rider until the end of 2025, Yamaha also plans to conduct more tests in Europe to accelerate the development of the YZR-M1.
