The 2024 MotoGP season has just begun, but the grid for next year is increasingly a topic of discussion. One aspect that may develop over the coming months is Yamaha’s plans to have a satellite team again.
This is a strong desire on the part of the Iwata manufacturer, which currently is the only one with its factory team. Fewer riders and fewer bikes means less diversity of feedback and opportunities to experiment, which could hinder the development pace of a less competitive Yamaha YZR-M1.
Carlo Pernat, a rider manager, highlighted to MOW Mag this determined goal by Yamaha: ‘It seems that Yamaha is willing to make any sacrifice to regain a satellite team, especially if it is the VR46 team‘.
However, Pernat doubts that Il Dottore’s team will accept this change if the bike does not show significant improvements, and he does not see Marco Bezzecchi accompanying such a change: ‘If that’s the case, I don’t think Marco Bezzecchi will continue with Yamaha, as he has always said he wants to ride a Ducati‘.
