Pol Espargaró fulfills this weekend at the Italian GP his first wildcard since becoming a test rider for Red Bull KTM in MotoGP – something that has been common for the Austrian manufacturer.
After Dani Pedrosa in the Spanish GP, it’s Espargaró’s turn to be wildcard in Mugello – and in both cases, the Grand Prix is followed by an official test day on Monday.
Could this wildcard be repeated for Espargaró later this year? KTM has that possibility by regulation, but the rider clarified that nothing is defined yet:
– At this moment it’s a wait and see for the future, how the bike is performing and if the manufacturer is having issues in other areas or wants to test a bit more with this bike or future ones, we will see.
