Francesco Bagnaia achieved his second MotoGP victory of the season this Sunday. In the Spanish GP race, the Ducati rider turned things around after a rough patch, inheriting the lead when Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) crashed. Then, he had to withstand strong pressure from Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) in the final laps.
The two-time world champion told the official broadcast that the first lap was crucial: ‘Certainly, the most important thing was the first lap: the overtaking move on the outside at turn 6. And then I just tried to attack to follow the front riders and Jorge made a mistake by braking too hard into turn 6’.
Regarding the battle with Márquez, Bagnaia commented: ‘I enjoyed it a lot, the fight with Marc was intense. Whenever you have to fight with Marc, you have to be aggressive, and it turned out to be very good. I enjoyed it a lot’.
The Italian also addressed the fans who filled the Jerez circuit: ‘Seeing all this crowd around the circuit is amazing, I want to thank everyone. Thank you very much to all’.
