Marc Marquez, the MotoGP master, gave a fun presentation at the Austin circuit, ready for this weekend’s Grand Prix of the Americas. With a new haircut and revealing his special helmet for the event, he was in good spirits. In conversation with DAZN, Marquez joked about his youthful appearance: “If a team is looking for young talent, look no further; we are ready and eager…”
The highlight of the day came when Marquez, in his typically cheerful manner, delved into MotoGP rumors. The topic? Fabio Quartararo’s recent contract renewal with Yamaha, a move that raised suspicions given his tumultuous start to the season. Marquez joked: “From the outside, it’s difficult to judge because we don’t know the details of the negotiations, what promises were made, or what PDF document they showed.” This ironic comment refers to Quartararo’s frustration last summer when he told Yamaha, “I don’t want to see any more PDFs.”
Marquez elaborated, “Yamaha is clearly committed to their project, they brought people on board and knew how to persuade Fabio to stay.” He didn’t hesitate to suggest that a good salary may also have been a significant draw.
Comparing himself to Quartararo, Marquez reflected on his professional journey: “We are in different stages of our careers. He has much more time ahead, while I have less. He hasn’t had serious injuries, which I don’t wish upon him, although I have had mine, which forced me to adapt to remain competitive.”
Marquez ended by highlighting the resilience of powerhouse brands, stating: “Yamaha is Yamaha, Honda is Honda, they will sort things out sooner or later. The question is when.” As for his future and the speculations about 2025, Marquez clarified: “I haven’t talked to anyone. My focus is on succeeding on the track; that’s where you gain more strength. My initial goal was to have fun, which I did in Qatar and Portimão. I hope to continue on this path. And if I am successful in the next three races, the situation will naturally change and we will start discussing with teams very soon.”
