Carlo Pernat showed his indignation at the episode that took place at the Austin Grand Prix, criticising the lack of sporting decisions and the interference of political issues in the race, following on from the Grand Prix of the Americas.

The Italian didn’t hide his displeasure at the controversial episode at the Grand Prix of the Americas. For Enea Bastianini’s career manager, the situation was badly handled by the race authorities, jeopardising the credibility of the championship, he told MowMag:

– The first thing that comes to mind is that I’m still angry with Austin. What happened on the starting grid was a scandal. This MotoGP needs judges who make sporting decisions, not political ones. From the moment Marc Márquez left the grid to change bikes, the regulations don’t apply and the starting procedure isn’t cancelled? Come on, that was a joke.

Pernat points the finger at the lack of firmness in enforcing the rules, implying that there are double standards. The criticism reflects a growing unease behind the scenes in the paddock.

For many, it was just a technicality. For Pernat, it was proof that decisions are no longer made in the name of the sport, but on the basis of external convenience.
