Fabio Quartararo was focused on trying out solutions on the Yamaha YZR-M1 during the MotoGP Grand Prix of the Americas. This weekend, the Monster Energy Yamaha rider faces the Spanish Grand Prix with a similar approach, before a testing day on Monday.
The 2021 world champion mentioned that, although Jerez has been a good track for Yamaha in the past, the focus will once again be on testing items on the bike to mitigate the shortcomings:
– Looking at last year, I don’t know what to say, but if we skip last year, I think it’s a very good track for us. But right now I think the most important thing is that from the first three races we have some very important data to analyze and improve. So, I believe a bit like Austin, we will try various things to improve our weak point that is making us slower. So, this weekend we will try out several things until Monday.
Asked if the Monday test is more important than the GP weekend, Quartararo replied: ‘Of course on Monday we have many, many things to test. I think we don’t have enough time to test everything. But I think the most important thing is not to waste time. I believe that on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, there are several laps we can do and that means we can test many things. And on Monday, of course, there will be many items to test that we can’t really test during the weekend‘.
