The year 2024 promises to be very different for Enea Bastianini and a good indication of what the current season could be was the Portuguese GP, with the Italian finishing on the podium. Jorge Lorenzo believes there is still room for the Ducati rider to improve, as the part of the race where he is strongest is not currently his best.
In the opinion of the former rider, commenting on DAZN, he considered that Márquez – now with a Ducati – was the cause of a particularly difficult season for the Italian: ‘Last year, Enea had a lot of bad luck in the accident with Márquez, for which Marc is to blame, because he made a reckless move, causing a serious injury to Enea that completely destroyed his championship. In addition, Enea was not comfortable with last year’s bike’.
Who seems to be showing that he is in good shape, at least physically, is precisely Bastianini, in addition to apparent growth with the Desmosedici GP24, although Lorenzo believes that his best has not yet been seen. It is the opinion of the Spaniard that Bestia will fight not only for races but also for the championship:
– Now he is perfectly recovered, with perfect physical condition and a bike that feels better: we have found a competitive Enea. Perhaps he is not yet showing his true potential in the second part of the races, where he is definitely the strongest, but little by little, gaining confidence in himself, we will see a talented Bastianini who will fight for victories and certainly for the world championship.
