The new MotoGP concessions system leaves Ducati practically without possibilities to develop the bike, with very few testing opportunities during the season and prevented from making wildcard appearances.
Michele Pirro, test rider for the Borgo Panigale manufacturer, admitted to GPOne.com that the limitations are significant and winning will become more complicated: ‘In fact, we have been a bit handicapped, that is the right word. Not only because of what they took from us, but also because of what our opponents will have more of. It will be harder to win, but doing it will be even better’.
Without wildcards for Ducati, Pirro admitted that after the Sepang shakedown he is not expected to ride the Desmosedici GP again in 2024, unless he is called to replace an injured rider: ‘Unless there are special situations where I am forced to replace someone, at the end of these three days I should be done’.
