The last MotoGP pre-season tests start today in Qatar. Miguel Oliveira, from Trackhouse Racing, will thus return to the seat of the Aprilia RS-GP 2024, for two important days of work in Losail.
The Portuguese rider pointed out his goal for these two days of testing: ‘The main focus is performance. Being so close to the GP, we want to be fast on the time charts. We want to put all the pieces together and be fast. That is the main objective. Then, in this ten-day period, the feeling we will have is the one we finish the test with, so we want to make sure we go into the race with clear ideas and a very clear direction’.
Regarding the plans, Oliveira stated: ‘There aren’t many things to try on the bike. On the first day, we will focus on getting these small things that we still need to test out of the way. And then on the second day, it’s just about being fast’.
Asked if there are still uncertainties about the aerodynamics and the direction to follow, #88 replied: ‘Exactly. The main priority for all manufacturers, I believe, is to finalize the homologation of everything – including us. I have to say that the idea is almost 100 percent established, but the fact that you have the chance to go to another track and check and try again is also important. So we want to make sure this direction is good’.
