Recently, Suzuki launched the new DR-Z4S. It is the latest bike in the Hamamatsu manufacturer’s DualSport lineup, featuring modern technology such as electronic fuel injection and ride-by-wire throttle.
The bike is powered by a 398 cc engine, making it a mid-range model. Corriere dello Sport asked Suzuki’s president, Toshihiro Suzuki, whether this launch might signal the arrival of a new DR650 or another larger-displacement model.
The Japanese executive replied: ‘That’s a difficult question to answer, but… in reality, if we compare the performance of the old 650 with that of the current 400, I believe the latter is superior. This is proof that we want to build bikes that people can enjoy every day, rather than focusing too much on increasing engine displacement. I think what’s important for Suzuki is to produce bikes that are fun to ride and use’.
The single-cylinder engine of the DR-Z4S produces 38 hp and is paired with a five-speed gearbox. It also features KYB front forks and rear shock absorber, as well as Bosch ABS brakes.
