The improvement of KTM in qualifying conditions in the 2023 MotoGP season was notorious. In a balanced field where overtaking is a difficult task with increasing levels of aerodynamics, a good position on the starting grid is increasingly important.
Brad Binder demonstrated this progress in qualifying in 2023. The South African acknowledged that the bike had improved considerably in this area compared to the previous year, stating:
– For me, it’s quite simple: either the qualifying is better or our overall performance is much better in qualifying. It wasn’t very good the previous year, and last year we took a huge step forward in this area. So, it’s purely the reason why qualifying went much better for me.
