Aki Ajo acknowledged the difficulties faced by Red Bull KTM Factory Racing at Silverstone, but remained optimistic about the signs of improvement shown in the second half of the race.

The Austrian team director didn’t hide that the British weekend was particularly demanding for the entire structure. ‘This was a challenging week, generally, and fortunately today showed us more light at the end of the tunnel and we were more competitive’, Ajo confessed, recognizing that problems accumulated throughout practice created a complicated scenario, but the race brought reasons for optimism.

The Finnish manager’s analysis highlighted positive aspects in the team’s performance, especially in the final phase of the race. ‘We were happy with the performance in the second half of the race and for Pedro’s progress, which was positive’, Ajo explained, emphasizing that the recovery capacity shown by Acosta was one of the weekend’s highlights in England.

The director identified specific areas that need development before the next race. ‘It is clear that we need to improve with the new tire for Quali but also the start of the races’, the Finn analyzed, recognizing that KTM’s problems mainly manifest in the initial moments of sessions, subsequently harming the entire strategy.

Ajo explained the specific difficulties the team faced in Silverstone’s particular conditions. ‘When the grip level is low, like it was here, then we struggled more than other races. But, we had clear information about what to improve’, the manager revealed, showing that the lack of grip exposed RC16 weaknesses that go unnoticed at other tracks.

Looking to the immediate future, the team director showed confidence in improvement possibilities. ‘We have to be openminded about Aragon and the test will be good to make more laps and to go forwards’, Ajo concluded, hoping that development work in the test before the Spanish race can solve the problems identified in England.
