This Wednesday, Francesco Bagnaia had new solutions to test on his Ducati Desmosedici GP24 – including a fairing and an exhaust. In the time table, he was the fifth fastest.
The Italian rider mentioned that he liked the potential of the fairing and the exhaust, but they are not yet at the ideal point: ‘I think it was good. I felt good with more or less everything. The thing we improved a lot today was power delivery and that makes me very happy. The new fairing has a really good potential, but I still think we need to change the configuration a bit to improve the feeling. And also the exhaust is good, but I need another direct [comparison] to confirm if it’s good or not. But it was a very positive day.’
When asked if the new fairing is making the bike heavier and more difficult in the corners, Bagnaia replied: ‘It’s different compared to last year’s. You have more aerodynamic load on the straight, so you may feel less horsepower. But if you enter the corner while braking, it becomes a bit stiffer. I think if you work with your setup, you can adapt to make it easier and have the potential for less horsepower.’
