Trackhouse Racing is one of the MotoGP teams without defined riders for the 2025 MotoGP season. Miguel Oliveira and Raúl Fernández are at the end of their contracts and the current leader of the Moto2 World Championship, Joe Roberts, is seen as a strong candidate. Team principal Davide Brivio spoke about the rider market.
Asked by the official MotoGP broadcast if the American rider could be a candidate for the team next year, the Italian emphasized that the market will depend, first and foremost, on the decisions of the factory teams:
– A lot is happening in the market, but everything is on hold until, I believe, the factory teams make their move starting with Ducati to be honest – because everyone is waiting to see what they decide. Then, after their decision, there will be some disappointed riders who will try to fight for an available spot in a factory team. Then, there are some decisions to make: where do you go for the salary, where do you go for the competition, etc.. When all the factory teams are set, there will be some other disappointed riders who wanted to be on a factory bike. So, we are here and at this moment we have to wait.
That being said, Brivio stressed that the mutual will of the current riders must be taken into account to decide what to do in 2024: ‘We also have to understand with Raúl and Miguel what we want to do. Evaluate their performance, see what they want to do, if they are happy to continue or not. So, all these things are happening and I think in the next few months everyone talks to everyone, but nothing moves. We are all studying‘.
