Last year, Aprilia had a satellite team in MotoGP for the first time. It was RNF Racing, whose project ultimately did not yield the expected results and had a complicated ending with all the controversy surrounding the team itself.
The CEO of Aprilia Racing, Massimo Rivola, explained to the press that mistakes were made by both parties: ‘I think we have to respect what the previous team did because it was also our first year having a satellite team. So, I’m sure we also made some mistakes. It’s always two parties together. If they don’t get along, there is also some blame on both sides‘.
The new chapter of Aprilia’s satellite team is now with American Trackhouse Racing, and Rivola highlighted the importance of nationality: ‘It was a great opportunity and, from a performance standpoint, from a marketing and commercial standpoint, from a brand standpoint, having an American team is unique‘.
