The Honda’s results crisis in MotoGP shows no signs of ending. This weekend, it is once again proving to be one of the weakest links in the French GP, and Joan Mir admitted that with the currently available material, it is not possible to go further.
For the 2020 champion, without changes to the RC213V, it is not possible to aim for better results: ‘We have the same bike, the same setup as in previous races, we cannot ask for better results. We always give our best and our positions at the moment are these. If we don’t get those updates that we tried in the tests, we will be in the same position‘.
Mir then said: ‘I hope they can react quickly and have some updates in that direction soon, it is important. Because, if not, we cannot ask for more‘.
The rider from Mallorca mentioned that Honda has changed internally and shows more reaction, but he believes it is still necessary to wait and see if it is enough: ‘It is true that Honda has also changed many things internally. They probably think it is enough, that is a bit the question. But at the moment it is true that we have to give some time to understand and have some patience and give the new people the chance and the opportunity. But it is true that everything we are experiencing at the moment is not the right direction. Comparing with last year, what I can say is that this year I see more reaction, this is a fact. But if you ask me if it is enough or not, I don’t know. Let’s give it a little more time and be a little more patient. But at the moment this is the reality‘.
After the French GP, Honda will have a private test at Mugello, which Mir hopes will be well utilized: ‘We have a test next week. Honestly, I don’t know what we will be trying, but I hope that if they make me test it, it’s for a reason’.
