Jorge Martín achieved pole position in the Italian MotoGP Grand Prix. In his first attempt in Q2, he set a new lap record at Mugello, which allowed him to beat Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) by 0.043s.
In the interview with the official broadcast, the Prima Pramac Racing rider started by talking about the work done to address the shortcomings felt in yesterday afternoon’s practice:
– It is true that the feeling is very good. We worked a lot last night not on the setup, but more on the electronics as I said. I was struggling to find that grip. I think the tire was a bit better, also the electronics.
Regarding the qualifying session, Martín commented: ‘Overall we had this incredible lap time, 1m44.5s is amazing. On the second run I was fast, but then Marc [Márquez] crashed, so I lost a bit of concentration, but it was also a good lap’.
As for the races, the Spanish rider anticipated: ‘I think we are strong for tomorrow. Today will be a tough race because the pace is very fast, but let’s see what we can achieve’.
