Miguel Oliveira finished the MotoGP Americas GP in 11th place, repeating the result of the Sprint race. Thus, he continues with points results at the beginning of this season.
After a less than ideal start, the Trackhouse Racing driver recovered in the rankings. However, he fell behind due to an incident in front of him and lost the chance to finish in the top ten, as he explained:
“I was caught by the fall of [Franco] Morbidelli, going wide to avoid hitting him and his bike. I lost about five seconds on that lap. Then I recovered and had a reasonable pace, but simply couldn’t get close enough to finish in the top ten.”
The Portuguese continued: “It’s a shame, because I felt that today we could have had a real top ten result. I was right behind Aleix [Espargaró]. Maybe in the end, with him on soft tires and me on mediums, I could have attacked him. But it’s just a ‘what if.’ We will build from here and head to Jerez.”
Maverick Viñales, from the official Aprilia team, had a strong performance and won this race. But Oliveira doesn’t draw more confidence from that, as he stated: “I would say it’s not because of Maverick, but simply our own feeling, our own direction with the bike is going well. So we just need to focus on that and build from Jerez.”
