Joan Mir’s first year with Repsol Honda in MotoGP was far from easy. The RC213V was a difficult bike to ride and not competitive in 2023, but the manufacturer heavily invested in improvements for the new season.
For the 2020 champion, these improvements are already being felt. Mir explained to the press that there is a feeling that improvements are being made in the weak points and he can already enjoy riding the Honda bike more:
– Right now I have this feeling that we are getting closer. We are not where we want to be, but I can see some potential. And in some areas where we had a lot of difficulties last year, now the bike is better. On the first day [in Losail] without pushing to the limit, I improved my lap time significantly in qualifying. So, this means that I am able to feel better with the bike and be more comfortable. […]. The corner speed and everything, I am able to enjoy it more now. I think if I enjoy it, I am usually fast.
