In the next season, the contract that binds VR46 Racing Team to Ducati in MotoGP expires. The future is still open, it could go through the same constructor or through a partnership with another manufacturer. Director Uccio Salucci confirmed that KTM and Yamaha are options being considered.
In an interview with the website GPOne.com, the Italian began by explaining that there is an option to renew with Ducati, but at the same time, he has been talking to KTM and Yamaha: ‘The most important thing is that we have a two-year option in our favor, so if, absurdly, we decide tomorrow, we would also be with Ducati in 2025 and 2026. I spoke with everyone, I’m not ashamed to say it, with Ducati, with KTM, with Yamaha. Now it’s a bit early to understand what we are going to do, although I am of the opinion not to delay too much in this decision‘.
Salucci reflected afterwards: ‘Maybe at Yamaha and KTM we were more part of the project than we are now at Ducati, but I get along very well with Gigi [Dall’Igna, general manager of Ducati Corse] and Claudio [Domenicali, CEO of Ducati]. From the outside, we and Gresini are in the background compared to Pramac, but everything I asked for was given to me‘.
Despite the apparent mutual desire to continue the partnership, the director of VR46 reiterated that there are talks with all available manufacturers: ‘In recent days I spoke with Dall’Igna, we want to continue improving together, but I don’t want to say false things, you never know what will happen and at the moment I am negotiating with everyone‘.
