The warm-up of the Spanish MotoGP Grand Prix did not end well for Pedro Acosta. The rookie suffered a crash – the second this weekend after yesterday’s in qualifying – and this one was spectacular.
It all happened at turn 7 of Jerez with about two minutes left until the checkered flag. The Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rider lost control of his KTM at high speed and was thrown, along with the bike, into the barriers.
The damage caused to the barriers resulted in a red flag, which ended the session prematurely with less than a minute left to go.
Despite it being his first major crash in MotoGP, Acosta emerged unscathed and is fully fit to compete in this afternoon’s race.
