Marc Márquez left the Repsol Honda Team at the end of 2023 but, in his last season with the team – at a time when he had not yet made the decision to leave – he once again stood out, this time in Portugal.
At the season opener at the Algarve International Circuit, the Spaniard did not have the best qualification and had to stay in Q1, but there he secured Q2, later going on to claim the pole position.
