Piaggio, founded in 1884, turns 140 years old and Vespa celebrates this anniversary with a special edition, the most exclusive ever in the history of the world’s most famous and beloved scooter.
The Piaggio Style Centre has created a model that collectors already have their eyes on, as it will be produced in limited numbers, up to a maximum of 140 units, and will only be available for four days, the same as the Vespa World Days 2024 rally, which will bring together thousands of Vespisti from 66 countries as well as national Vespa Clubs. In fact, during the days of the grand celebration, the Piaggio Vespa 140th can be ordered online (VESPA.COM) or in person at the Vespa Village, the heart of Vespa World Days 2024 taking place in Pontedera.
An unmissable opportunity for collectors from around the world to take home a version that promises to be one of the rarest, most sought-after, and valuable.
In the Piaggio Vespa 140th, created on the basis of the Vespa Gtv, respect for the most classic and evocative forms of Vespa’s history is achieved thanks to an extraordinary combination of history and modernity, where the low headlight and exposed tubular handlebar combine with sporty finishes and a high-tech equipment package.
The special version is characterized by blue and light blue on a white body, the institutional colors of the Piaggio Group, which interact with the classic graphics and the new Vespa monogram, as well as the commemorative 140-year logo. These colors also highlight the classic tie on the front shield, the distinctive mark of each Vespa, designed with triple air intakes on both sides and central grilles. The front fairing also recalls the racing spirit that inspires the Gtv.
The seat is blue, with double tone-on-tone stitching and, in contrast, is characterized by the unmistakable single-seat appearance, with a wide and comfortable seat. The rear seat cover is standard, another reference to the sporty and elegant soul of the Vespa.
The blue wheels with light blue inserts are also dedicated to this model. The aesthetics of the new Piaggio Vespa 140th are completed by the black finishes of the fairing profiles, the rearview mirrors, the exhaust, and the passenger’s foldable footrests.
Each unit will be identified by a numbered commemorative plaque located on the rear shield, also highlighted with the 140-year logo.
The new Piaggio Vespa 140th is equipped with the 300 hpe (High Performance Engine) single-cylinder engine, with 4 valves, liquid cooling, and electronic injection. With a power of 17.5 kW (23.8 hp), it is the most powerful engine ever mounted on a Vespa. The light groups are fully LED, including the characteristic low beam headlight, while the instrumentation maintains the elegant circular shape but is now fully digital, a solution that allows to take advantage of the functionalities provided by the Vespa MIA connectivity system, available as an accessory.
Comfort and practicality are enhanced by the introduction of the keyless system, which allows to start the ignition without the need for a traditional key. In terms of safety, it comes standard with ASR traction control and ABS anti-lock braking system.
The Piaggio Vespa 140th can be equipped with a range of stylish accessories, including a large high-quality leather rear bag with the engraved Vespa logo and a smooth leather reinforcement on the bottom and handles that allows for easy and secure attachment to the rear luggage rack. Some of the accessories that enhance the riding comfort and functionality of the Vespa include front and rear luggage racks, a large acrylic windshield, and crash bars.
