Next Sunday, Valentino Rossi will be at the rookies test of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) in Bahrain. He will be driving an LMP2 from Team WRT, with future prospects of competing in the same championship.
Two years after ending his career in MotoGP, Il Dottore is firm in his motorsport projects. This year, he returned to compete in the GT World Challenge Europe with Team WRT, also being involved with BMW. In the future, he wants to compete in the WEC in GT3 and there are also plans to test the LMDh from the Bavarian manufacturer – which will debut in the Hypercar category next year.
Now, Rossi will have the chance to get to know an LMP2, assuming he is preparing to test the BMW car for the top class. In a statement, the Italian stated: ‘I am very happy to try the LMP2 for the first time! It is a great opportunity for Team WRT, as we have plans for me to test the BMW Hypercar in the future. So, before testing it, I think it is a good experience to try the LMP2, since it is similar in terms of aerodynamic load, and I am curious to understand my potential. I am also looking forward to being in Bahrain to watch the last race of the season, and as I hope to compete in the WEC in the future, it will be good to understand the environment and the event structure‘.
