Valentin Debise will compete in the 2024 World Supersport Championship with Evan Bros. Yamaha. This is one of the top teams in the category, particularly known for Andrea Locatelli’s title in 2020.
At 31 years old, Debise has extensive experience in motorcycle racing. He has competed in full seasons in the 250cc and Moto2 World Championships, as well as in WSSP and World Superbike.
This year, the Frenchman completed his first full season in WSSP and finished fifth in the championship, with two podium finishes. He raced for GMT94 Yamaha, so he arrives at Evan Bros. already familiar with the YZF-R6 he will be riding.
The team manager, Fabio Evangelista, commented: ‘
During 2023 I had the opportunity to meet Valentin several times and immediately a great feeling was born. At the end of the season, we started talking about a possible collaboration in 2024: an idea that became a goal after the test we did together in Jerez. We are convinced that we can aim for top positions in the next season, in line with the balance between the various bikes in the pack. As a team, we have decided to believe in Yamaha again, just as the factory believes in us, and certainly Valentin’s fifth place in the last season on the R6 is a good starting point for 2024. Now we have a winter of work ahead of us, to optimize our set-up in every detail and be ready for the first round at Phillip Island’.
