Troubled start didn’t shake Jason Anderson, who still got the podium in Anaheim: ‘I’m glad I held on, I could have crashed’

Third place in the main race of the first round of the 2025 AMA Supercross, in the 450 class, Jason Anderson was almost 6 seconds off the pace at the first round of the race in Anaheim, but still happy because… he made it to the finish.

The start of the race was particularly tough and troubled, but the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider managed to finish successfully. Shortly after the main event, Anderson reacted to his race in this way, recalling the chaotic start:

– When I came off the starting grid, I was a bit unstable and the handlebars got tangled up and I took off, I don’t know [how many spokes]. Nothing serious, but whenever you see them hitting the fork, when you’re in the air, you get nervous, you don’t want the front wheel to blow off while you’re riding and then I started making mistake after mistake because I was always thinking about the front wheel. But, yes, fortunately, I managed to find a rhythm and after being overtaken by Kenny [Roczen], I just tried to follow him and hang on.

His bike ended up showing a fighting spirit and making it to the finish, something he was very happy about: ‘I had a bit of pressure from Cooper [Webb] at the end, but I’m just grateful that my front wheel held up because I could have crashed pretty hard because of that’.
