The latest recruitment event for the Trial School of the Portuguese Motorcycle Federation took place in Benedita.
The Trial School of the Portuguese Motorcycle Federation, an initiative that has seen many riders pass through and enrich our sport, such as Diogo Vieira – who also achieved the first Portuguese podium in the Super Enduro World Championship in Budapest on the same weekend – held a recruitment event in Benedita last Sunday, with the aim of selecting a new member to join the school.
The event took place at the Benedita Sports and Motor Park, organized by the Parte Manetes Association, on an open day dedicated to two-wheeled sports – whether motorcycles or bicycles – and attracted a large number of children and adults. The park includes a Pump track and a dirt track for bicycles, as well as a Super Enduro track, which, on the one hand, made it difficult to organize and follow the established plan for the Trial recruitment, which welcomed candidates aged 6 to 10 years old.
The selection process for the FMP Trial School consisted of three distinct phases: in the first phase, candidates only had to navigate through a series of cones, zigzagging between them without touching them and then descending slightly. In the second phase, they also zigzagged between the cones, which were closer together, after which they had to overcome two slight uphill and downhill sections and return to the starting point. In the third and decisive phase, candidates started the course between the cones, completed three somewhat steep uphill and downhill sections, passed through a wooden grid about five meters long, and finished by climbing a pallet without any assistance ramp.
It was a morning of nerves, but also of concentration and fun. Several young pilots from the national Trial trophies also attended, delighting the audience with their driving skills. And a special mention goes to the young pilot from the FMP Trial School, who showed what can be done with a Trial bike and a bit of terrain.
All candidates will be contacted via email regarding the decision of the FMP Trial School evaluators, who unfortunately will only choose one future pilot.
