Manuel González dominated once again to win the Moto2 French GP. The rider led from the fourth lap to the end, further asserting his supremacy in this early stage of the season.

Good start by Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex), who took the lead at Turn 3 ahead of González (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP/Kalex). Jake Dixon (Elf Marc VDS/Boscoscuro) was in third, while his teammate Filip Salac impressed by climbing from seventh to fourth.

Barry Baltus (Fantic Racing Lino Sonego/Kalex) also had a strong race start, moving up to third on the fourth lap… the same lap in which González overtook Moreira to take the lead.

The Brazilian was then left vulnerable to Baltus, who completed the overtake on lap 8. By that point, González already had more than seven tenths of a second of advantage, but the Belgian began to close the gap.

With Moreira in third, Dixon would later lose fourth place to Arón Canet (Fantic Racing Lino Sonego/Kalex) on lap 12. The Spaniard then set his sights on a potential podium… which he briefly reached two laps later, before making a mistake that nearly resulted in a highside. He dropped to fifth.

Canet quickly recovered and, by lap 16, was back in the podium positions. Up front, Baltus was getting closer and closer to González. However, the leader responded and never allowed an attack.

The battle for third place was also heating up between Canet and Moreira, with Dixon joining in during the final two laps. But Canet held the position without even coming under threat from his rivals.

In the end, González secured his third win of the season, beating Baltus by 1.811s in what was the Belgian’s second consecutive podium. Canet finished third, with Moreira and Dixon completing the top five.
