Toni Bou (Repsol Honda Trial Team) conquered his fourth consecutive victory of 2024, but in the most contested Grand Final of the season so far. Only in the last section, Bou managed to confirm the win ahead of Gabriel Marcelli and Toby Martyn, in a completely Montesa podium.
Bou also only gave up his second point in the championship by being defeated in the first round by Marcelli, setting the tone for a challenging night. A fall in the second round for the 17-time world champion was not enough to deprive him of first place after the nine qualifying sections, but it was enough to leave him with a shoulder injury that restricted his subsequent performances and ultimately his margin to win.
The excellent performances in challenging section three were the foundation for a strong night for Marcelli, giving him his first bonus point of the season in the first round, and then bringing him back into contention in the Final. However, his failure in section one ended up being too costly for him to truly take the fight to Bou, who already had an 8-point advantage after just the first two sections.
Toby Martyn secured the third podium of his career with an excellent display in the second round, surpassing Jaime Busto (GasGas), who lamented his three consecutive failures in the first round. Busto’s early elimination, for the first time this season, caused him to fall to third place in the championship, behind Marcelli.
