Marc Márquez finished the Americas GP without scoring points in Sunday’s race. The Spanish rider suffered a crash after overtaking Pedro Acosta and taking the lead in the race.
The Gresini Racing MotoGP™ rider explained in the debrief all the sensations he had during the race and the incident that took him out of the Americas GP.
– ‘Today I felt very good, the feeling was there, but I had unexpected problems with the front brakes throughout almost the entire race. The race pace was not that high and when I was in the front there was one time I braked and didn’t feel anything and the second time I went a bit faster, but still lost the front. The most important thing is that I feel competitive and this gave me a good mindset.’
Asked if the cause of the brake problems was the reason for wanting to take the lead of the race as quickly as possible to cool the brakes, Marc replied: ‘Yes, going to the front was the goal to see if something would improve the brakes, but today the feeling in the brakes changed with each turn and that was my biggest concern, which ended up costing me a mistake and a crash. You know that when I have a crash I admit fault, but today it was a technical problem. Today we had a mistake and we need a response, that’s what matters. The team is still a bit weak in that, but in the future we will have answers more quickly.
