At the start of another European season of the MotoGP World Championship, the 75th in the history of the oldest motorcycle championship in the world, and with the aim of reducing the environmental impact of the sport worldwide, only electric scooters will be allowed to circulate in the circuits’ paddocks.
The Algarve International Circuit is the first circuit in 2024 where the entire ‘MotoGP City’ showcases its new colors for the first time, along with all the glamour and electrifying atmosphere unlike any other motorsport competition worldwide, environmental concern is raised to unprecedented levels.
The adoption of electric scooters for transportation within the ‘city’ was already common among riders and teams and now becomes mandatory for everyone, with a fleet of electric models – thirty motorcycles – being introduced for the first time in the Algarve, which will be used by the promoter’s staff throughout their stay at the circuit.
Along with this mobility option, many others are being implemented and will be introduced during the upcoming weekend, such as selective waste collection, use of synthetic fuels, recycling of used tires, and food donation.
