After standing out in Sepang, Pedro Acosta will have two more days to prepare for the new MotoGP season. The Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rider, who is making his debut in the premier category, now faces the Qatar tests in Losail.
Speaking to the press, the Spanish rider commented: ‘I’m glad to change tracks, to be honest, because after six days of riding in Malaysia, it was very boring. I remember on the last night we spent there, before the last day, I said, “I want to go home now!” I’m glad to be back, I’m glad to have several things to test before the first race of the season. Let’s see; I’ll try to stay calm. It’s a new track, only two days. I think this will be the first test where we have to see how quickly we can manage and adapt to a new track, try to manage the bike. But I think it’s going to be good.’
As for his plans for the test, Acosta said: ‘Ultimately, it’s about building a strong foundation. We have some things to test, I don’t know what to be honest. We will also do a full race simulation on the second day, I believe. It’s going to be good.’
The rookie also said he approaches this test without expectations: ‘Let’s see how this track is, also with the sun we have now on the track, with the wind which is very strong at the moment. But I did well in Malaysia; here we have to start from scratch, have no expectations. Malaysia was unreal, so let’s see if we can continue with this dream.’
