Jorge Martín returned to victory at the French MotoGP Grand Prix, in a weekend where he completely dominated. The Prima Pramac rider was ecstatic to win on Sunday at Le Mans, and in the celebrations still on the bike, he even damaged the helmet and the windshield of the bike.
In a press conference, the current championship leader stated: ‘Setting the record lap, winning the Sprint, and the Sunday race is very difficult, so I was saying to myself: “Who is number one?! Who is number one?!” I feel that this weekend I was number one, absolutely. So, I am really happy about this‘.
For Martín, the victory was particularly special in overcoming in a direct fight two MotoGP world champions: ‘Beating Marc and Pecco, I think it’s crazy. They are incredible champions, I am not a MotoGP champion yet, so for me it’s incredible, and I am really happy to be in this position‘.
When asked if it was his most impressive victory in MotoGP so far, the Spanish rider denied: ‘I don’t think so. I think maybe Misano last season was huge. But surely this victory was very good. We didn’t fight with each other until the last lap, I believe, because I had this very small advantage. So, I don’t think it was my greatest race, but it is certainly one of the best‘.
