Marc Márquez surprised at the French MotoGP Grand Prix, achieving second place after starting from 13th. The recovery was gradual and culminated with the overtaking of Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) on the last lap.
After this second podium of the season in a main race, the Gresini rider stated to the official broadcast: ‘It was a really good recovery from 13th. Today was a good start, but not like yesterday, so it took time to overtake the other riders – especially at the beginning, with new tires the acceleration among all of us is very similar. Then, when the tires started to drop, I managed the situation well, but the most impressive thing is that when I was alone, the pace was there and I was catching the riders in front‘.
Regarding the overtake on Bagnaia, Márquez reflected: ‘In the end, I tried for five laps to overtake Peco, but he was braking very late. But on that last lap, I said: “I’ll try.” You know me, so I have to try, I tried and it was a good overtake. This time I was able to maintain the trajectory and defend well in the last sector‘.
Finally, the Italian commented: ‘I am very happy, thanks to the team because this weekend we had many difficulties on Friday, but we understood why, so we continue to learn some things on this bike and today we were fast‘.
