Tenth in FP1 and ninth in FP2, Toprak Razgatlioglu made his debut with the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team in WSBK but his performance was not particularly impressive, something the rider wants to improve and believes that if he does, he can fight for the top three in race 1.
The Turkish rider started his analysis of the day by talking about the weather conditions and how it affected the behavior of the bike: ‘We didn’t start very strong because today’s conditions were completely different and everyone tried to get a lap time. The wind was very strong and the bike wasn’t working or turning. I tried to adapt to the situation.’
He then addressed the position and how he needs to improve his performance above all, even saying that he can fight for the top three positions in the first race if he has a good performance in Superpole: ‘In tenth, I’m not thinking about that because Saturday is a different day and I will try my best to improve the bike a little. Tomorrow morning, I think we can start strong to make a different set-up. We need to have a good Superpole and then in the race, I think we can fight for the podium. It seems that we are strong, but today was my first time riding the BMW in strong wind and I was struggling a bit, I felt a bit heavy. Tomorrow, the weather seems to be a bit better.’
One of the standout riders was Andrea Iannone, who was followed by #54, just like Bautista in FP1, with Razgatlioglu commenting: ‘I wasn’t pushing, just following them to understand some corners. Ducati sometimes uses a different line and I was watching that. I’m working for the race because I need to see who I will be fighting with. This morning I forgot to do a good lap, but it’s just FP1 and FP2. On Saturday, I think we will start well.’
