The Qatar circuit is definitely not one of the most friendly for Marc Márquez, but he showed good potential the first time he rode with Ducati, and for Neil Hodgson the rider doesn’t seem to have put it all together yet, but at the Portugal GP it could be important to understand where he stands, he believes.
The former rider, who spent most of his career in WSBK, despite two seasons in the 500cc (only two rounds in 1994, a full year in 1995), and one in MotoGP (2004), spoke to TNT Sports about the race in Losail, stating: ‘Yes. He’s back! It’s a track he doesn’t like. For me, he’s still not comfortable and hasn’t found a setup that suits him.’
As there were two days of testing in Losail, unlike the Portuguese round, for Hodgson this will be a real opportunity to see how Márquez will perform: ‘We’ll know more after Portugal because it’s a serious weekend without two days of testing beforehand’.
Sylvian Guintoli, remember, said he believes that Márquez will unleash the beast in Portugal, and it won’t take much more to see what happens in Portimão…
