Jorge Martín finished Sunday’s race in 4th position. The Spanish rider had a very intense battle with his rival, Francesco Bagnaia, in the fight for the MotoGP title, but ended up behind the Italian rider from the Ducati Lenovo Team who finished in 3rd position.
The Prima Pramac Racing rider talked about the topic that has generated a lot of controversy in recent days, tire pressure and the influence it has during a MotoGP race.
– ‘The pressure was higher than yesterday, but after three laps I was missing all the braking points, I think it was more of a temperature problem when I was behind Pecco. I felt like I was giving it my all, but the temperature was so high that I could crash at any moment. Tire pressure is ruining races 100% and this year with warnings and penalties it’s not easy. Next year if it’s like this we’ll be out of the race immediately, so we’ll try to gather (drivers) and talk to race direction’.
Asked about his chances of winning the championship, being only 14 points behind leader Francesco Bagnaia, Martín replied: ‘We lost 1 point this weekend, sometimes I recover 15 points so it’s not a problem. We can lose those two points at any time. I still have to find out if Pecco’s tire pressure was below normal, but from my point of view I prefer not to have the correct pressure and finish on the podium. Today it was clear that even with a penalty we can finish on the podium with lower tire pressure.’
