Aprilia has both riders at the end of their contracts in MotoGP, and in particular Aleix Espargaró may leave at the end of the year. The Spaniard will turn 35 in July and does not completely rule out putting an end to his career.
If that happens, the Noale manufacturer has three priority targets, according to Sky Sport Italia. One of them is the current championship leader, Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati). The rider wants to be in a factory team in 2025 and, although he prefers Ducati, it is not certain that he will get the seat.
A seat that is currently occupied by Enea Bastianini, in the last year of his contract. For now, he is third in the championship just two points behind his teammate Francesco Bagnaia, who is in second, trying to show his worth to continue.
Another option for Aprilia is Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46/Ducati), who started this year much more discreetly than in 2023. Nevertheless, he already has a podium and is clearly on an upward trajectory, potentially starting to aim for a factory team if the opportunity arises.
Those seemingly out of the Aprilia equation, at least for now, are the riders from their satellite team Trackhouse Racing – Miguel Oliveira and Raúl Fernández. It is also worth mentioning that there may be two vacancies to fill, with rumors suggesting that Maverick Viñales could succumb to the money eventually offered by Honda.
