Runner-up in the Moto2 world championship, Tony Arbolino analyzed several topics in an interview he gave. The Elf Marc VDS rider is seen by many as one of the main contenders to win the championship in the intermediate category after Pedro Acosta’s move to MotoGP.
‘In the first part of the season, I was always ahead and felt good with the tires and the bike. In the second phase of the season, I didn’t want to settle for second place and started making changes, following the wrong path. In some races, I lost a lot of confidence with the bike,’ he recalled in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
‘This year will be a very intense battle and I want to prepare well. The new Pirelli tires will have a big impact on the riding style. I felt good in the tests in Valencia, it seems like we can make a bit more of a difference. Time will tell, but I am determined to fight for the championship until the end,’ asserted the #14 rider.
In recent seasons, the presence of Italian riders has increased in various categories. Among Moto3, Moto2, and MotoGP, the Italian contingent has 15 representatives.
‘Currently, physical training has become very important and rigorous. In Spain, riders start preparing from a very young age and in a decisive way, thus creating a bit of a difference. The championships in Spain are more formative than in Italy,’ he compared.
Asked to comment on who are or were the best riders in history, Arbolino did not hesitate.
‘I believe the strongest riders are or were Valentino Rossi, Marc Márquez, and Giacomo Agostini,’ he concluded.
