Marc Márquez achieved his fifth consecutive top three, now with second place in the Sprint race of the Italian MotoGP Grand Prix. A position he reached after overtaking Jorge Martín (Pramac/Ducati).
The Gresini Spaniard was pleased with the pace, but admitted to the official broadcast that winner Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) has been superior at Mugello: ‘The pace is quite good. It seems that Pecco is a bit faster than us since yesterday, but we are there in second or third place‘.
Despite a better starting grid position, Márquez was not able to make the gains he achieved in the starts in France and Barcelona, admitting he was not as good: ‘Today I started from fourth, but the start was not as good. I had some difficulties with all the starts during the weekend, but tomorrow we will try to manage that‘.
In any case, the eight-time world champion emphasized that he is satisfied with the pace and aims for another podium in the main race: ‘The pace was there, I feel good, so let’s see if tomorrow we can fight for the podium again‘.
