Franco Morbidelli will start the MotoGP season at a disadvantage compared to his opponents. Due to the crash suffered in training in Portimão in January, he missed the entire pre-season, so it will be in the first Grand Prix races that he will have to get to know the Ducati Desmosedici GP24 and deepen his relationships with the Prima Pramac team in the boxes.
The Italian rider stated that it will be essential to have the right approach, without focusing too much on the top positions, but rather on recovering what needs to be recovered:
– It will be important to have the right approach and the right approach is not to look too much at what the riders at the front are doing and how big the difference can be. Because I know I have some ground to recover. So, for sure, recovering it in a race is something complicated, but it’s what we will try to do and what we have to do, and it’s what we will try to do in the best way possible.
At this point, Morbidelli emphasized that he has no plans or expectations about how long this recovery will take: ‘Starting from the point that nothing is impossible, I’m not making any plans, I don’t have any clear expectations about when I will fully recover or when I will recover enough to fight for the positions I want to fight for. So, I’m not going to plan any of this, I’m just planning the next step‘.
