There is a special kind of excitement in seeing something go from concept to reality. In 2021, Royal Enfield showed up at EICMA, the biggest international motorcycle event of the year, to showcase its latest creation. Known as SG650, the prototype did what good prototypes tend to do: It got people talking about it.
It was a promising debut. It quickly became clear that the SG650 was not just the kind of prototype that adorns posters, but rather the kind of prototype that gets a frame and an engine and starts generating interest among motorcyclists.
India is a vast place, filled with motorcycle enthusiasts who have a special place in their hearts for Royal Enfield. So, it was not a big surprise when reports of the SG650 being tested on public roads started to emerge throughout 2022 and 2023.
Fast forward to the annual Royal Enfield Motoverse event in Goa in November 2023, where the brand unveiled its first production version of the Shotgun 650 to the public. Based on the Super Meteor 650 model, the Shotgun 650 is a bobber at its core. But, according to Royal Enfield, it is also more than that.
Although the Shotgun 650 comes equipped with a solo bobber-style seat, it can easily be transformed for two-up riding or carrying luggage for trips, as needed. For these reasons, the CEO of Royal Enfield described the Shotgun 650 as “a mutant” during the live presentation at Motoverse 2023.
The paint and graphics you see here are an exclusive design of Motoverse 2023, of which only 25 units will be manufactured and sold to participants at Motoverse 2023.
The full specifications have not been disclosed yet, but they are expected to be very similar to those of the Super Meteor 650 in terms of power. If you are interested in learning more, you can visit the Royal Enfield page for information about the Shotgun 650.
