Pedro Acosta revealed that he has the potential to fight in the top ten during the MotoGP preseason tests, both in Sepang and in Losail – the circuit that will host the inaugural round of the year, the Qatar GP, in March.
The Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rookie was asked about what could be a realistic goal for that race. In his response, the Spanish rider was cautious, acknowledging that the starting position will be crucial and that he still has many gaps in qualifying:
– I really don’t know. Ultimately, the problem is that everything here depends on Friday afternoon’s practice and qualifying. So, if we have a good qualifying and we’re eighth, we can dream of anything. But at the beginning, we need to take a big step in training and qualifying because we need to improve. You see the riders in the top five… we can keep up with their pace, but then they put on a new tire and they’re half a second faster than me. This is something we know, something we have to accept, and something we have to improve.
