TVS has finally unveiled its new electric scooter, called the X. As expected, the new TVS X is based on the Creon concept presented at the Auto Expo 2018. Looking at the images, it is evident that the manufacturer based in Hosur has retained some elements of the pre-production concept.
Reservations for the TVS X are now open. Interested buyers can reserve one for themselves through the company’s official website. Deliveries of the electric scooter in 15 cities will begin from November 2023 in a phased manner. Additionally, the first 2,000 units of the TVS X will carry a “First Edition” badge to distinguish them from the rest.
The design of the new TVS X is very different from that of the iQube. While the iQube is simple, conventional, and has a clean aesthetic, the X is radical and exudes a dynamic appearance. It is in line with a typical Maxi-style scooter, with an aggressive front end, sculpted fairing, and sharp visuals or what TVS calls “sculpted fairing shape.”
The TVS electric motor has a maximum power of 11 kW (15 hp), a rated power of 7 kW (9.5 hp), and a torque of 40 Nm. The aluminum alloy frame and single-sided rear swing arm further highlight the aggressive and dynamic style of the new scooter. In terms of technology, it features a 10.2-inch TFT touchscreen display with tilt adjustment, three driving modes “Xtealth”, “Xtride”, and “Xonic” as standard, multi-level regeneration modes, Cruise Control, reverse gear assistant, TVS SmartXoonect Connected system, video option, games, calls, live location sharing, and messages directly from the instrument panel, and finally the TVS Smart Xhield to protect and assist the rider during their journey.
The front suspension consists of telescopic forks at the front, and a shock absorber at the rear. The braking system is equipped with disc brakes at both ends. The addition of ABS (only for the front wheels) makes the TVS X the first electric scooter in India to be offered with this feature.
Further specifications include a seat height of 770 mm, keyless ignition, LED headlight, including daytime running lights and sequential side indicators, an external portable charger of 950 W for home socket or 3 kW SmartXHome charging.
